City of Houston Honors Frontline Heroes with “Big Houston Heart Day” on May 19th

The City of Houston Proclaims May 19, 2020 Big Houston Heart Day, Boosts Love for Frontline Heroes During Pandemic

Houston, TX, May 19, 2020 -- The City of Houston has proclaimed today, May 19, 2020, Big Houston Heart Day, a day for the community to come together to show love and support for the city of Houston and our frontline workers.

Big Houston Heart Day is observed in the same week as Emergency Services Week, which celebrates EMS practitioners and the important work they do to keep our communities safe. Big Houston Heart Day is a way for Houstonians to show appreciation for healthcare professionals, law enforcement, rescue workers, firefighters, and everyone supporting the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Big Houston Heart Campaign, launched by CHI St. Luke’s Health in April 2020, encourages individuals to send in a photo making “heart hands” or submit “heart art” to ShowUsYourHoustonHeart.org. People can also share images and messages of appreciation on social media using the hashtag #ShowUsYourHoustonHeart. In addition to visually showing our love for the frontline workers who keep our community strong, this social media campaign also focuses on raising awareness about COVID-19, including sharing advice from medical professionals and public health officials, as well as tips to stay safer during this time.
