Laura Meza Rios, MD, Joins St. Luke’s The Woodlands Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center

August 6, 2020 (THE WOODLANDS, TX)— St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital announced today that Dr. Laura Meza Rios has joined the St. Luke’s The Woodlands Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, located at 17198 St. Luke's Way, Suite 200, The Woodlands, Texas.

Board certified in internal medicine and specialized in medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Rios is passionate about gastroenterology oncology and frequently treats colon, rectal, pancreatic, liver, and gastric cancers. She also treats other conditions such as lung and breast cancer, lymphomas, myelomas, and other solid organ cancers.

Dr. Rios attended medical school at Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia and completed her residency at Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, NY. Prior to moving to Houston she worked as an academic hospitalist for a year after graduating from residency. She completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.

St. Luke's The Woodlands location is an extension of the flagship Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center located in the Texas Medical Center. Through a partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only three NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in Texas.

The Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center in The Woodlands began seeing patients in January 2019. The space features medical and radiation oncology services across two floors and 26,000 square feet of clinical space. The center also offers support services such as a nurse navigator, social worker, nutritional services, spiritual care, and survivorship groups.
