5 Boredom Busters That Don’t Require Leaving the House

Posted in: Blogs , English

As we do our part to help flatten the curve, staying at home may have some of us wondering how we can get creative with our time. If you think you’ve run out of options, you can bust boredom with these fun, creative activities.

1. Go Wild at the Zoo

Visit the zoo without leaving your house! The Houston Zoo is live streaming at 11 am CST, Monday through Friday, on their Facebook page. Get an up-close look at the animals and listen to the zookeepers share interesting facts about these exotic creatures. It’s fun for the whole family!

2. Start Spring Cleaning

Channel your inner Marie Kondo and use this time to declutter your home. Clean out and organize your closets, drawers, and cabinets. And don’t forget to wipe down and disinfect commonly touched items like door knobs, fridge handles, and light switches.

3. Take an Online Class

Many universities are offering free online courses to keep your mind sharp. For example, Yale University is offering a free class via Coursera called The Science of Well-Being, which teaches you how to form productive habits and increase your happiness. You can also find classes on Skillshare, edX, and even YouTube.

4. Namaste at Home

Many local yoga studios are offering free or discounted yoga classes that you can attend from the comfort of your home. Join Black Swan Yoga as they stream free classes throughout the day on their Instagram account, practice with BIG Power Yoga online, or create some zen with DEFINE body & mind.

5. Get Artsy

Whether you’re a budding Picasso or someone who colors outside the lines, letting your mind focus on something creative can help you reduce anxiety and stress. Order an adult coloring book online from a local bookstore, or get messy with your kids and do a family art project.
